About Dr. Josef L. Schulte:

Josef Lothar Schulte is an expert in German and European competition law. He advises and represents companies in merger control proceedings and proceedings relating to infringements of Article 101 TFEU and Section 1 of the German Act against Restraints of Competition (GWB), as well as in fine and abuse proceedings. In addition to handling administrative antitrust proceedings before the competition authorities, litigation is another key focus of his practice. Furthermore, Mr Schulte oversees compliance programmes and reviews them based on his experience as a designated compliance officer. Josef Lothar Schulte specialises in the following sectors: energy, banking and financial services, construction, the chemical industry, as well as the IT sector and telecommunications. Mr Schulte has authored numerous publications on antitrust and IT law, as well as on compliance programmes. He also regularly delivers lectures on antitrust topics at business conferences and to specialist audiences.

Biography:

Josef Lothar Schulte, born in 1953, studied law at the University of Münster (WWU), specialising in tax law and competition law. After obtaining his doctorate in 1983, he worked as a solicitor in private practice and, from 1986, as a research assistant at the Monopolies Commission in Cologne. He has been a chartered accountant in Frankfurt am Main since 1993. Until 2000, Mr Schulte was a partner at a Frankfurt law firm, before founding the law firm SCHULTE LAWYERS. in June 2000 as managing partner alongside eight other lawyers. He advises building materials groups and construction companies, leading industrial gas manufacturers and major banks on antitrust matters and compliance issues. In 2020, he handed over sole management of the firm to Dr Christoph Peter.
